The 2016 Shrine Bowl game raised $33,000 for the Shriners Hospital for Children.
The annual all-star football game, played in June in Casper, raises money for the hospital, which specializes in the treatment of children.
The Shrine Bowl’s board of directors made the donation to the Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City, Shrine Bowl executive director John Cundall said in a release. The Shrine Bowl players traditionally visit the hospital in Utah the week of the game.
The game is in its 43rd year.
“The Shrine Bowl was an amazing experience to see all the players come together for a great cause,” 2016 North coach Jon Vance of Kelly Walsh said in the release. “To see the relationships develop over a single week was incredible. I am very grateful for the opportunity to help support the kids.”
Shriners Hospitals operate in 22 locations across North America. The treatment and services provided by the hospitals are at no cost to patients or their families.
“The Shrine Bowl is more than a football game,” 2016 South coach Mark Lenhardt of Torrington said in the release. “It’s an opportunity to come together as a state to support an amazing cause, which will stay with these young men for their entire life. I’m honored to be a part of something that makes such a difference.”
