Terrific site. Brings back old memories and then think, oh, we weren’t that good or that’s who played on that team….memories.

You are missing some stuff on Burlington between 1998 through 2001…You have harry mcniven being from big horn in 2000, he is from burlington. In 1998 Eddie Williams was All-state. 1999 you are missing Clay Ellison as a safety All-state. I understand that it is hard to get stats that are correct or even written down for that fact from Burlington!!

Thanks b-town. I will get on updating those upon verifying it ASAP. I appreciate the help!!

Would you know how and when they will reclassify the 3a and 2a boys and girls basket ball and volley ball?

    Hi Bill,

It was pretty well publicized this week the changes that are coming. Cheyenne South will jump to 4A, which pushes Star Valley to 3A. In addition, Thermopolis moves to 2A and Lingle to 1A. All those changes go into effect next fall for all sports except football. Hope that helps.

b-town: I looked into Burlington’s changes and of those three, I only got one verified and that was McNiven. The other two names were not part of any of the all-state lists I found for those years. Sorry.

    Dan,

Do you happen to have a full all-state list for Class B-C that year? If so, shoot it my way: pschmiedt@yahoo.com.

  15. Hey Patrick,

How are you doing on 1949 – 1954 All State Players listing? Is there any hope of getting this.

  16. Howard,

Every empty year I have here I have tried very hard to find, but to no avail. If it’s not posted now, unless someone has a complete copy and can send it to me, it probably will never be posted. Sorry. Not for a lack of trying on my part, though….

    Patrick,
I like your site and appreciate that you are compiling all this info – what a task! I just spoke to my dad – Nick Harris – to wish him a Happy Father’s Day and we were talking about the Shrine Bowl and he shared with me that he played in a game in 1959, in Cody – he said it was similar to the Shrine Bowl but he didn’t think it was called the Shrine Bowl at the time, altho he thought the Shriner’s put the game on. He said the Gov was there and it was a big deal. He received the game ball as MVP. He played for Morton High School. Any info on this? I would love to know more!

    Hi Charlene,

I’ve never heard of this game. I’ll dig into it a little bit and see what I can find out! Thanks for sharing!

Do you know if it was an annual game, or did it just happen once? Was it played in the summer, like the Shrine Bowl is now?

    Hi Patrick,

I just stumbled on this site, cool information..thanks for your hard work. I was a member of the 1966 and 1967 Green River Wolves football team and noticed a couple of errors…would be glad to help with those if you would like the info.

Do’t know if you have room or even want to take it on but I think it is pretty cool to read about the CanAm Six Man game that happens every year now for twenty years I believe. We had some great players from Wyoming represent for the last few years and it would be a nice place to showcase here I think…just a thought…

  23. I honestly appreciate a lot of these articles you write, I plan on being a sports journalist and broadcaster thank you

  24. How would the 2A West conference champ be determined if both Greybull and Mountain View end up 7 wins & 1 loss?

  25. Patrick on October 8, 2016 at 1:44 pm said:

Cathy, overall record has nothing to do with it, so 7-1 overall records are meaningless. What matters is conference record. If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two teams earns the top seed. If three teams are tied, it gets more confusing… and the tiebreaking rules are on page 49 of the WHSAA handbook: http://www.whsaa.org/handbook/Handbook.pdf

Great web site I appreciate the time and work it took and takes to maintain it.
I went back to yesteryear and found a few errors in the 1970 class A listing for the second team. The names from Newcastle should be Bob Dilts C. not Bill and John Halsey DB. not Jim. I played with these fellas and have no doubt about their name.

Love the website. Do you know anyone that has footage of the 1992 Shrine Bowl in Laramie? Particularly the second half? (Got my hands on some 1st half footage).
Are you wanting more game footage? I have a few high school games from the 1990 & 1991 seasons on DVD (converted from VHS long ago).
Thanks, Keep up the great work.

Hi Travis, I can’t help with the Shrine Bowl footage… but I would love some footage of other games. If you’ve got a YouTube account, feel free to post it there and send me the link (and I’ll share from there), or I can post to my YouTube account if you send me the DVDs (which I would send back, of course). Hi Patrick

How are things going in your world? All OK I hope

Every Friday I have lunch with some old classmates of mine that I played football with and of course many stories fly around the table and I have to pull out your book and give them the facts. Today I took the book with me and they want to know how to get a copy so if you’ll send me the information needed I’ll pass it along to them. Get it here in town or have to order it or just what.

Still keep up with your web site and really enjoy all the information you pass along.

    Thanks

    T. J.

Hi there. I am the grand daughter of Edward L. Kirkpatrick. He played football for a high school in Sheridan in likely the late 1930s – a year that they won the state championship against Casper, we think. We are looking for any additional information or records that you may be aware of.

    Hi Dana,

Here is the Sheridan team page: http://wyoming-football.com/index.php/results/results-by-team/sheridan-broncs/

Sheridan beat Natrona in state championship games in 1936 and 1938.

Classmates.com also has a pretty big collection of Sheridan yearbooks. That’s a start, at least. Hope that helps!

A great research project would be to report on the football game between Hanna and Saratoga in 1967 or 68, Each team featured a great running back. Saratoga had Tommy Runner in the backfield. Hanna’s back was James Isaac, the only member of UW;s “Black Fourteen” to play high school football in Wyoming. While I wasn’t at the game, I’ve always heard that it was a spectacular display of running by both kids. Just a thought.
