Some interesting things to watch for in the 3A/4A state tournaments this week…

A couple teams come to sate with long-needed regional momentum. Cody's girls won their first regional tournament in program history last week, while Riverton's boys won their first regional/district tournament title since 1989.

Both the Cheyenne East and Cody girls are undefeated entering the 4A tournament. It's the first time since 1994 (2A boys with Wyoming Indian and Upton) that two teams have gone into the same bracket unbeaten. Oddly enough, neither one of those 1994 teams won the title…

East and Cody have a long way to go, but it's worth mentioning: The last (and likely the only) time two undefeated teams played each other in a state championship was in Class B boys in 1960, when St. Stephens beat University Prep.

If @EastLadyTBirds do make the title game, it will be their fifth consecutive title game appearance. Only four other girls programs have ever done that. East is already in its 23rd consecutive state tournament, the second-longest streak in girls state history.
