With 32 34 consecutive second-half points, Wyoming beat Nebraska 54-52 in the inaugural Six-man Shootout all-star football game on Saturday in Arthur, Neb.
Wyoming scored the winning points with 19 seconds remaining as Dubois’ Mitchell Baker threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Snake River’s Daniel Wille. The touchdown was the final piece of a comeback that saw Wyoming rally from a 52-20 third-quarter deficit.
Wille finished with 282 total yards — 186 receiving, 94 rushing — and five touchdowns.
Snake River’s Rex Stanley scored twice and Midwest’s Ty Fenster also scored for Wyoming.
Nebraska led big early, staking a lead of 46-12 late in the second quarter. Nebraska led 46-20 at halftime and scored early in the third quarter to take a 52-20 lead.

One of the best games that I have ever been associated with. I hope everyone had a great time. We have some great athletes in this state and some great ones coming up. So, let’s keep this trophy in our state next year!
Great game, indeed! Stats don’t show how well EVERYONE played! For example, Chad Rinker had a GREAT defensive game putting pressure on the NE QB all day long, caused a couple fumbles, recovered one, and was involved in a number of tackles! Everyone had a GREAT game! Nebraska was more than welcoming to the Wyoming fans and players! It was an incredible experience!!
I agree with Coach Bates on that it was one of the best games i have been associated with also. It was a GREAT TEAM effort! I is an honor to be part of the first WYO-NEB game and many more to come in the future. Coaches from both teams wanted a memorable game to kick-start this event and I can’t think of a better way to do that than that game. WOW!! That is what 6man football is all about!

Thanks Ted it truly was a team effort. I can’t think of a game where we have a better example of where it takes all players and all coaches to work together to achieve a common goal. From the coaches on both sides to the players on both sides and also to the fans on both sides they gave their all…and that is what it is all about!

I am from Wahoo, NE. I brought my family out for the game and we all had a great time. My teenagers both play eleven man and had never seen six man football before. They really enjoyed it.

I’m a little behind on the comments, just found out from Patrick that this blog existed. I just wanted to say what an incredible experience this week was from start to finish and I was honored to be involved as a coach with this inaugural game. The Nebraska coaches and the folks from Arthur were extremly hospitable and did a fantastic job organizing this game. The players from Kaycee are still taking about it everytime I run into them and the seniors this year can’t wait to find out if they will be chosen to play in the 2nd Annual Shootout. This is a fantastic way for 6-man players in Nebraska and Wyoming to get to showcase their skills and their sport! The game was extremely exciting and the biggest comeback I have ever been involved with. Both sides played extremley hard and I was very proud of the Wyoming boys for their total team effort, composure, and resilience on the field. As Coach Bates also mentioned thanks to all the sponsors that helped get our boys there and thanks also to the National Guard in Nebraska for their help with various things throughout the week. The game was one I will remember forever and I can’t wait for the next Shootout this summer in the Cowboy State!
