9 Thoughts on “Official quarterfinal playoff pairings and game times

  1. Burlington at Niobrara County will be 6 pm kickoff.

Patrick..What are your thoughts about Burlington taking the forfeit against Cokeville last week. Can’t believe Cokeville was real happy about it.

I thought that forfeit was because of injury and sickness. Was there a different reason?

1A Fan……Had not heard about injury or sickness..just by what I saw in the Casper Star

I think there could be injuries and sickness when Lusk is done with Burlington. Lusk is a pretty decent outfit. Them and Cokeville in Laramie when it is all said and done I think

I had heard injuries/sickness were Burlington’s reasoning as well. I don’t necessarily agree with it; I think you play who you have and you’ve got to trust your players, the other players and the other coach to keep it clean.

I don’t think it’s a move Burlington makes if a possible berth in the postseason is riding on possibly winning that game, which to me makes it a questionable move… but I can’t speak for coach Aagard and the situation with the Huskies. I have a lot of respect for him and the program he’s running in Burlington. It is possible that they were so depleted that they couldn’t put 11 able bodies on the field. If that’s the case, then, yes, I agree.

But I think if you can find 11 able bodies, you put them on the field. I’d rather lose 100-0 with a bunch of freshmen on the field than not play. I think coach Dayton in Cokeville would have understood the situation and wouldn’t have had his starters in long.

Anyway, to sum: I can’t speak to Burlington’s specific situation. I trust coach Aagard to do what’s right for his team. I can’t say I’d make the same decision. But there’s a reason he’s the coach and I’m not, and I hope his team used the week off to rest up and give Lusk a run for its money.

Patrick., what is your opinion of Burns? I think they appear to be better than their over all record. They drilled Glenrock and Moorcroft. They also beat a Wright team that had won 3 straight. They might be trouble in the 1st round.

Also, does Lyman have a shot at Thermop this time around?

    Thanks…

Burns intrigues me. I think they do play better than their record shows. They have two close losses (Lusk and Newcastle) and won when they had to win. I think the long trip in the playoffs and a tough team to face in the first roun dmight be too much to overcome but I don’t see the Broncs being blown out. I figure that first-round game probably will be close, at least within two scores — no matter which team wins. I think Burns is overlooked and should keep it close.

As for Lyman: Short answer, absolutely they have a chance. Smart money’s on Thermop but Lyman will make it a game, much like week 1.
