Thanks to Jim Craig, who’s been indispensible with his help for the site, I’ve been able to make these additions/corrections:

Updated the Lovell-Cody game in 1957, which Cody won 41-6 on Nov. 5. I had the game, originally scheduled for Oct. 12, listed as canceled. However, it wasn’t canceled, it was postponed, and Cody won the rescheduled game.

Added Manderson’s 31-6 victory against Ten Sleep on Nov. 5, 1957. (Added to the missing games list because a location couldn’t be found.)

Added Pine Bluffs’ 33-31 victory against Huntley on Nov. 7, 1958, in Huntley.

Added North Big Horn’s 26-24 victory against the Lovell JV on Oct. 12, 1979. (Added to the missing games list because a location couldn’t be found.)

Added Big Horn’s 12-6 victory against the Buffalo JV on Sept. 23, 1972, in Big Horn.

Added Big Horn’s 35-6 loss to the Lovell JV on Oct. 27, 1972, in Lovell.

Corrected the location for Big Horn’s game against the Sheridan JV on Sept. 5, 1972; it was in Sheridan, not Big Horn.

Added Cokeville’s all-state selections to the 1995 Class 1A Division II all-state team.

I also updated the stadiums page to reflect the new locations of stadiums in Laramie and Dubois for this season, as well as Laramie’s move to artificial turf. I also added the name “Jim Crawford Field” to Greybull’s stadium, which, apparently, has been the stadium’s name since the early 1970s. Thanks to Jordan Hunter on the wyoming-football Facebook page for pointing out that omission!

Thanks to friend of the site Jim Craig and his sleuthing, I’ve been able to make the following updates to the site:

Added standings for 1964, 1963, 1962, 19611960 and 1959.

Added the score and corrected the date for Mountain View’s 19-0 victory against Cokeville on Sept. 24, 1964.

Added the score for Glendo’s 33-7 victory against Guernsey on Sept. 18, 1959. (Glenn Freeburg in Guernsey was helpful in finding this score. Thanks!)

Fixed the score for Douglas’ 13-6 victory against St. Mary’s on Oct. 3, 1959. (I had St. Mary’s winning by the same score.)

Updated Mark Smith’s name for Kelly Walsh on the 1972 Class AA all-state team; I had noted a “Smith” as an all-state pick but did not have his first name or his school.

Added Woodie Lawson’s name to the 1959 Class AA all-state team for Rawlins; I had noted a Rawlins selection, but the player’s name was illegible on my copy of that all-state team.

Corrected the spelling for Pavillion’s coach for 1959: It was Lee Dobyn, not Dobyns.

All the updates have been made on all the relevant pages.

With thanks again to “Stat Rat” Jim Craig, I have made the following updates to the site:

Standings: Added the 1966 and 1965 statewide standings.

All-state: Added the 1970 AA all-state team and the Associated Press 1968 AA all-state team, and updated Tom Neuman’s information on the 1966 AA all-state team: He was from Rawlins, not Riverton.

In adding the AP 1968 AA all-state team, the 1968 Class AA UPI all-state team was removed. Here it is, so you can compare the changes:

First team

CHEYENNE EAST: Wes Webb, G.
LARAMIE: Scott Freeman, QB; Larry Garcia, HB; Gary Engen, G; Greg Kipper, E.

A few updates I’ve recently made to the site:

Coaches

Added Deaver-Frannie’s coach for 1951: It was Dale Dragich.

Games

Added Cowley’s victory over Deaver-Frannie on Oct. 26, 1951. (Added to the missing games list because the game is missing a score and a location.)

Added Tongue River’s 21-19 loss to the Sheridan JV on Oct. 17, 1957. (This game was originally listed as canceled. It was actually played.)

Added Hulett’s 27-0 loss to Vale, South Dakota, on Sept. 13, 1957. (Added to the missing games list because the game is missing the location.)

All-state

As has been the case for the past couple months, Jim Craig has been a huge help with all-state lists. Info for the updates below were provided by him. Thanks again!

Added Dave Eisenman from Sheridan to the 1968 Class AA honorable mention all-state list. I had him noted, but in the original list I had, only his last name — not his first name or school — was provided.

Also added John Klecker from Cheyenne Central to the same list. Again, I had him noted, but the original list provided an illegible name and had the player listed for Cheyenne East. That’s been fixed.

I also updated the 1969 all-state teams with the Wyoming Coaches Association teams, replacing teams picked by the UPI and AP pollsters. The WCA teams are listed on the all-state page; the teams formerly on that page but removed are put here for reference:

With big thanks again extended to Jim Craig — who’s been doing yeoman’s work with digging up all-state teams from the 1960s — the 1966 Class AA and Class A all-state teams, the 1968 Class A and Class B all-state teams and the 1969 Class B all-state teams have been added to the site.

I also updated the 1963 all-state teams to include the Class AA and Class A all-state teams as chosen by the Associated Press, which I feel was more representative of both classifications. In the process, I removed the 1963 UPI Class AA/A combined all-state team. That team was as follows:

First team

CHEYENNE CENTRAL: Dick Gish, QB; Allen Russell, E; Dave Coulson, T.
CHEYENNE EAST: Brent Fabian, HB; Dan Madrid, G.
LANDER: Tom McKinney, HB.
LARAMIE: John Godbe, E; Pinky Johnson, G.

Second team

NATRONA: Dick Phillips, QB; Don Wilcox, T; Bob Phillips, E.
RAWLINS: Tom McCulloch, G.
SHERIDAN: Jim Wilson, C.

You can see all of the 1960s all-state updates here.

Thanks to Jim’s help, I also added Byron’s 61-13 victory over the Cody JV on Aug. 30, 1963.

This victory increased Byron’s consecutive scoring streak for that stretch to 97 games, still fifth-best all-time.

The changes are reflected on all the relevant pages.

The following all-state teams have been added to the site, with thanks again going to Stat Rat Jim Craig for finding them at the State Archives:

1965 Class B

1966 Class B

1967 Class AA

1967 Class B-UPI (AP all East; UPI all but two from the West)

The 1967 Class B all-state teams were bizarre, and I’ve included both the AP and UPI all-state listings on the site. The AP all-state listings only listed players from the east side of the state; the UPI all-state team had 13 players on it, but 11 were from the west and only two were from the east. They’re both included here, as I feel to only list one or the other would not be truly representative of the state as a whole.

(I have yet to see the Class B all-state teams from 1968, 1969 or 1970, but I’m guessing they’re doozies. In 1971, a Class B all-state team wasn’t chosen; the coaches cited continuous regional bloc voting as the reason, noting that coaches would consistently vote for players only from their region and no others, thus ruining the integrity of the teams selected. Can’t wait to see those teams and piece together the rest of the story.)

The 1965 Class A all-state team was also completed; it had a couple missing names.

The available all-state teams from the 1960s are here. Thanks again to Jim for his help!

Jim Craig has come through again with some more help on games I’ve long been questioning. Thanks to his help, I’ve been able to make these updates:

Added Moorcroft’s 32-0 loss to the Natrona JV on Sept. 27, 1979, in Casper.

Fixed the score and winner of Goshen Hole’s 12-6 victory against Burns on Nov. 2, 1971. I had Burns winning by the same score.

Fixed the score and winner of Burlington’s 50-0 victory against Manderson on Sept. 13, 1974. I had Manderson winning by the same score.

Fixed the score and winner of Rawlins’ 26-16 victory against Lander on Oct. 8, 1976. I had Lander winning by the same score.

Fixed the score and winner of Wheatland’s 35-0 victory against the Laramie JV on Sept. 8, 1979. I had the Laramie JV winning by the same score.

All of the updates have been made on all the relevant pages.

–patrick

A couple updates; Mr. “Stat Rat” himself Jim Craig helped me verify the correct final scores for these games. Thanks for the help!

I updated Saratoga’s 7-6 victory against Cokeville on Oct. 9, 1986. Originally I had Cokeville winning by the same score. The Saratoga yearbook from that year tipped me off that I might have it wrong; Mr. Craig verified the Saratoga victory.

(This correction is especially relevant now, as Cokeville coach Todd Dayton chases down career victory No. 300. “Losing” this victory knocks Dayton down to 298 career victories, two short of the cute, round number of 300 that I’ll probably celebrate more than Dayton will…)

I also updated Glenrock’s 36-27 loss to the Natrona JV on Oct. 18, 1974. I originally had Glenrock winning this game 27-26.

All the updates have been made on all the relevant pages.

As always, if you see anything that looks wrong, please let me know!
