It’s spring break here in Laramie. What that means for me is more time in the Coe Library basement. I’m mostly chipping away at 1941 right now, but I’m spicing things up by tossing in an occasional Coaches Project or Byes Project search. Here is some of what I’ve uncovered/updated in the past week or two:

Coaches Project

Recent updates have been made for Arvada-Clearmont, Basin, Big Horn, Burlington, Byron, Cokeville, Cowley, Deaver-Frannie, Greybull, Guernsey, Hulett, Lander, Lingle, Manderson, Moorcroft, Morton, Pinedale, St. Mary’s, St. Stephens, Saratoga, Sunrise, Superior, Ten Sleep, Thermopolis, Tongue River, Wheatland and Worland Institute.

Wheatland has been particularly difficult — the list I worked with to start was full of errors — but I think I’ve got most of it straight now.

New games

Added Lingle’s game with Harrison, Neb., on Oct. 12, 1951 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a result)

Added Lingle’s 39-12 victory over Manville on Oct. 26, 1951

Added Cokeville’s 53-0 victory over Mountain View on Sept. 11, 1959

Missing games

Removed a game between Moorcroft and Big Horn scheduled on Oct. 3, 1958 (Big Horn didn’t have a team that season)

Noted the Nov. 8, 1957, game between Moorcroft and Big Horn was canceled

Added Lingle’s victory over Harrison, Neb., on Oct. 7, 1953 (and left it on the missing games list because I couldn’t find a final score)

Removed a game between Albin and Lingle on Oct. 24, 1952 (Albin didn’t have a team that season)

Added the score for Lingle’s 34-12 loss to Lyman, Neb., on Sept. 14, 1951

Noted the Nov. 2, 1951, game between Lingle and Sunrise was canceled

In between teaching classes, taking classes, making a trip to Fort Collins and squeezing in quality time with the wife, I really hit the missing games list and the Byes Project hard this week. The Byes Project is an effort to account for all “Open” weeks in which schools have no games listed. I’ve also tossed in a couple Coaches Project updates, too…

In all, 11 games were added to the database (four of those are now “missing games”) and 14 games were removed from the missing games list.

New additions:

Added Cowley’s 28-20 victory over Bridger, Mont., on Oct. 18, 1975

Added the Pinedale-Reliance game scheduled for Oct. 9, 1956 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a result)

Added Pinedale’s 36-18 victory over Lyman on Oct. 27, 1956

Added the Saratoga-Kremmling, Colo., game scheduled for Oct. 14, 1949 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a result)

Added Saratoga’s loss to the Rawlins JV in October 1955 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a score, a date or a location)

Added Saratoga’s loss to the Laramie JV on Oct. 13, 1955 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a score)

Added Saratoga’s 32-26 loss to the Laramie JV on Oct. 12, 1956

Added Lingle’s 45-20 victory over Guernsey on Oct. 15, 1954

Added Guernsey’s 51-19 victory over Chugwater on Oct. 6, 1954

Added Sunrise’s two victories over Guernsey in 1953, a 55-19 victory on Sept. 18 and a 63-6 victory on Oct. 23

Missing games:

Found the location for Pine Bluffs’ 65-6 victory over Huntley on Nov. 8, 1957 (it was in Pine Bluffs)

Found the score for Upton’s 12-7 loss to Edgemont, S.D., on Sept. 21, 1956

Found the location for Saratoga’s 36-0 victory over the Rawlins JV on Oct. 9, 1956 (it was in Saratoga)

Deleted an entry for Newcastle’s 7-0 victory over Edgemont, S.D., on either Sept. 9 or 10, 1955; Newcastle actually beat Belle Fourche, S.D., 7-0 on Sept. 9, and that game was already part of the database

Found the score for Big Piney’s 50-12 victory over Baggs (Snake River) on Sept. 23, 1955

Found the date and location for Lingle’s 39-0 victory over Sunrise on Sept. 30, 1955 (it was in Sunrise)

Found the score and location for Lingle’s 42-13 victory over Albin on Oct. 28, 1955 (it was in Albin)

Found the location for Lingle’s 34-12 victory over Huntley on Sept. 17, 154 (it was in Lingle)

Found the location for Sunrise’s 45-0 victory over Guernsey on Sept. 17, 1954 (it was in Sunrise)

Found the score and changed the date for Lingle’s 46-8 victory over Harrison, Neb., on Oct. 6, 1954 (had originally listed Oct. 8)

Found the date and location for Morton’s 0-0 tie with the Lander JV on Oct. 6, 1954 (it was in Lander)

Found the score for Morton’s 6-6 tie with the Lander JV on Sept. 24, 1953

Found the score for Sunrise’s 19-19 tie with Albin on Sept. 25, 1953

Found the score for Sunrise’s 32-20 victory over Lingle on Oct. 30, 1953

Coaches Project:

Added coaches to the team pages for Sundance, Ten Sleep, Deaver-Frannie, Pinedale, Gillette, Saratoga, Lingle, Guernsey, Morton and Lander. Check out those teams’ pages to see the updates. Still could use some help for Cokeville….

As always, if you see an error or an omission in the game-by-game result listings or in the listing of the coaches, feel free to let me know. My e-mail address is pschmiedt@yahoo.com.

Lyman:

Once again, Lyman coach Ted Holmstrom has come through in a big way in providing help regarding his school’s football history. He recently sent me updates for 11 seasons — 11 new games and 10 missing games:

1947: Corrected the date of the Oct. 24 game between Lyman and Big Piney (had originally listed Oct. 17)

1952: Added three games, Lyman’s 51-0 victory over Big Piney on Oct. 10; Lyman’s 18-18 tie with Cokeville on Oct. 17; and Lyman’s 37-6 victory over Big Piney on Oct. 24. Found the score for Lyman’s 42-18 victory over Cokeville on Oct. 3. Also removed a missing game scheduled Oct. 24 with Baggs-Snake River.

1953: Added two games, Lyman’s 38-14 loss to Cokeville on Oct. 1 and Lyman’s 61-61 tie with Big Piney on Oct. 16. (That 61-61 tie also set a new state record for the highest-scoring tie game — and by a wide margin, too.)

1954: Added one game, Lyman’s 48-33 victory over North Rich, Utah, on Oct. 21. Also found scores for two games, Lyman’s 38-21 loss to Cokeville on Sept. 24 and Lyman’s 54-13 victory over Baggs-Snake River on Oct. 11.

1957: Found scores for two missing games, Lyman’s 34-12 loss to Cokeville on Oct. 11 and Lyman’s 34-30 victory over Mountain View on Oct. 18.

1958: Added two games, Lyman’s 39-12 victory over Mountain View on Sept. 26 and Lyman’s 12-7 loss to Hanna on Oct. 17.

1959: Found scores for two missing games, Lyman’s 28-19 loss to Superior on Sept. 11 and Lyman’s 21-0 victory over Mountain View on Sept. 18.

1966: Added Lyman’s 18-0 loss to Provo, Utah, on Oct. 7.

1967: Added Lyman’s 46-33 victory over Ogden Deaf School, Utah, on Oct. 6

1968: Found a score for Lyman’s 36-6 victory over Ogden Deaf School, Utah, on Oct. 18.

1969: Added Lyman’s 7-6 victory over Park City, Utah, on Oct. 24.

Coach Holmstrom also hooked me up with all the missing coaches I had for Lyman on the Coaches Project. Thanks, coach!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Glendo:

Glendo native and current Greybull coach John Cundall hooked me up with a list of Glendo’s coaches for the Coaches Project. Every year but 1952 has been accounted for in regards to the Eagles’ history. Glendo coaches were notoriously tough for me to find, so coach Cundall’s list was a huge, huge help to me. Thanks a ton, coach!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Coaches Project:

In between receiving awesome e-mails from coaches, I’ve been chipping away at the Coaches Project on my own. The following schools have received updates in the past couple weeks, mostly in the 1960s or early 1970s: Arvada-Clearmont, Basin, Bow-Basin, Byron, Cowley, Deaver-Frannie, Goshen Hole, Guernsey, Hanna, Huntley, Jackson, Lander, Lingle, Manderson, Pavillion, Saratoga, St. Mary’s, Sunrise, Ten Sleep, Tongue River, Torrington. Check out those teams’ individual pages to see the updates.

The coaching list for Bow-Basin is now complete, which is pretty sweet.

I’ve got nearly every coach from 1964 to the present, with the exception of Huntley in the four seasons from 1965-68, Deaver-Frannie and Manderson in 1970, Pinedale in 1964 and Goshen Hole in 1966…. as well as Cokeville for pretty much every year prior to 1976. Cokeville is the only school where I’m still getting hung up, so if anyone knows who Cokeville’s coaches were back in the day, shoot me an e-mail to pschmiedt@yahoo.com and fill me in on who’s missing from the list. Cokeville’s team page is here.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That’s it for now. Obviously it’s been a fun week!

Coach Ted Holmstrom down in Lyman hooked me up big time with some scores from the late 1940s and early 1950s that I was missing. First, a big thanks to coach Holmstrom for helping me out! It’s really appreciated. Now, onto the updates he provided for Lyman:

Reliance’s 36-6 victory over Lyman on Oct. 11, 1946

Lyman’s 19-13 victory over Big Piney on Oct. 17, 1947 (this gives Big Piney two games on this date, but for now I’ll let it stand until I can figure out more)

Lyman’s 38-14 victory over Big Piney on Oct. 15, 1948 (and took it off the missing games list)

Lyman’s 26-18 victory over Pinedale on Sept. 16, 1949

Hanna’s 13-6 victory over Lyman on Sept. 23, 1949

Lyman’s 26-18 victory over Cokeville on Oct. 12, 1949

Lyman’s 51-6 victory over Farson on Oct. 11, 1950 (and took off an Oct. 13, 1950, empty listing on the missing games list for a game between Lyman’s JV and Farson)

All the updates have been made on the relevant pages.

He also let me know Lyman’s coach in 1946 was Bill Johnson. Thanks again, coach Holmstrom!

I’ve also put in a few updates of my own on the Coaches Project. Updates for Byron, Cowley, Deaver-Frannie, Lander, Manderson, Morton, Pavillion, Saratoga, St. Stephens and Wind River have recently been added; check out those individual team pages to see those updates.

I also:

Found the location for Morton’s 0-0 tie with Big Piney on Sept. 4, 1965 (it was in Morton)

Found out the Oct. 5, 1965, game between Pavillion and the Riverton JV was canceled

Found the score for Saratoga’s 7-0 loss to the Laramie JV on Oct. 29, 1955

All three games were taken off the missing games list.

The never-ending process of digging up Wyoming’s high school football history continued a little bit more this week. In addition to completing research on the 1943 season (which, like 1944 and 1945, will wait until after the 2010 season to get posted here), I’ve added the following updates:

Coaches Project

Added some coaches for Basin, Byron, Cowley, Deaver-Frannie, Greybull, Lyman, Manderson, Pavillion and St. Stephens. Check out those individual team pages for the updates.

New games

Added Meeteetse’s game with the Cody JV on Oct. 23, 1959 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a result)

Added Cowley’s game with the Cody JV on Oct. 31, 1959 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a result)

Added Manderson’s 26-13 victory over the Greybull JV on Oct. 27, 1959

Added Mountain View’s 40-20 victory over Lyman on Sept. 25, 1965

Missing games and updates

Found the score for Ten Sleep’s 26-0 victory over Burlington on Oct. 7, 1959

Found the score for Burlington’s 22-6 loss to the Cody JV on Sept. 7, 1984

Corrected the date of the Sept. 17, 1965, game between Mountain View and Cokeville (I had listed Sept. 20)

–patrick

I’ve mentioned Pine Bluffs before when doing site updates — how I know that I’ve under-researched the Hornets and I have yet to uncover everything about Pine Bluffs football. There are lots of reasons for that, but they really don’t matter. What matters is that I’m continuing to uncover some cool info about the purple and gold and its football history.

I put another significant dent into that research this week. I added 11 more new unique entries, including seven for the 1953 season alone, and knocked five more Pine Bluffs games off the missing games list.

Here’s what I’ve added for the Hornets:

Pine Bluffs 1953: Added a 20-0 loss to the Cheyenne (Central) JV on Sept. 15; added a 41-0 victory over the Scottsbluff, Neb., JV on an uncertain date (somewhere between Sept. 23-29, added to missing games list); added a 40-0 victory over the Laramie JV on Oct. 3; added a 12-0 victory over Morrill, Neb., on Oct. 16; added a 26-7 victory over Sterling St. Anthony’s, Colo., on Oct. 24; added a 24-0 victory over the Cheyenne (Central) JV on Oct. 29; and added a 13-0 victory over Sidney St. Patrick’s, Neb., on Nov. 6. I also found the location and date for the Sept. 11 game against Kimball, Neb. (it was in Pine Bluffs).

Pine Bluffs 1954: Added a game against the Cheyenne (Central) JV on Oct. 28 (but couldn’t find a final score and added it to the missing games list). I also added scores for the Oct. 15 game against Sidney St. Patrick’s, Neb. (Pine Bluffs won 14-2) and the Oct. 22 game against Morrill, Neb. (Morrill won 19-7). Also corrected the date for the Sept. 22 game against the Scottsbluff, Neb., JV (I originally had Sept. 24).

Pine Bluffs 1955: Added Pine Bluffs’ 26-0 loss to the Laramie JV on Sept. 15; found the location and the date for the Sept. 9 game with Kimball, Neb. (it was in Pine Bluffs); found the date for the Oct. 21 game with Morrill, Neb. (but it stayed on the missing games list for an unknown location); and added a Oct. 14 game with Sidney St. Patrick’s, Neb. (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find the final score).

Pine Bluffs 1956: Added a game with Grover, Colo., on Nov. 2 (and added it to the missing games list because I couldn’t find a final score)

I also made significant progress with some Glenrock details that I had been missing:

Glenrock 1957: Knocked five missing games off the list. Found a location and a date for a 25-o victory over Huntley on Sept. 13 (I also corrected the score; I had originally listed 26-0); found the location for the Oct. 5 game against Lyman, Neb. (in Lyman, Neb.), and the Nov. 2 game against Lingle (in Glenrock); found the date and location for the Oct. 19 game against the Natrona JV (in Glenrock); found the score for the 34-0 victory over Glendo on Nov. 9.

Glenrock 1954: Knocked two missing games off the list. Found a score for Glenrock’s 52-12 victory over Lingle on Sept. 24 and discovered the Oct. 1 game with Harrison, Neb., was canceled.

Glenrock 1951: Added the Herders’ 18-14 victory over Lingle on Sept. 26 and found the date and location for the 28-0 loss to Manville on Sept. 21 (it was at Lance Creek).

I also:

Added Hanna’s 22-12 victory over St. Mary’s on Sept. 17, 1977

Added Albin’s 27-6 victory over Melbeta, Neb., on Sept. 10, 1954 (and added it to the missing games list for a missing location)

Found the date and location for Albin’s loss to Melbeta, Neb., on Sept. 9, 1955 (it was in Albin)

In all, 14 new entries were added to the database. All these updates have been made on all the relevant pages.

But that’s not all! Here are some other updates I’ve made this week:

Coaches Project

I added almost every missing coach from the 1978 and 1981 seasons, nearly completing the Coaches Project from 1976 forward. I’m still missing one coach from 1976 forward: Glendo’s 1978 coach. Otherwise, the prior 34 years of the Coaches Project are done! I have recently made Coaches Project updates for Albin, Basin, Bow-Basin, Byron, Cokeville, Gillette, Hanna, Lander, Lyman, North Big Horn, Rawlins, St. Mary’s and Saratoga.

Also, Steve Core down in Green River has come through BIG again. He provided me a list of all of Green River’s coaches from 1943 to the early 1970s, which is where my list picked up. So, for now, I’m good to go for the Wolves’ coaching history. Thanks again to Steve for all the help he’s provided!

Other housekeeping

With the updates I added last week, I realized Lovell’s losing streak from 1959-62 had actually increased a game, from 22 to 23, while the Bulldogs’ winless streak jumped from 23 to 24 games. Those changes have been reflected on the streaks page.

–patrick

Knocked 32 games off the missing games list, added 13 more new entries and corrected a pair. Yeah, it’s been a busy time.

Most of what’s been updated lately is games from small southeast corner schools, mostly Guernsey and Sunrise. I’ve come across old microfilm of the Guernsey Gazette and have been using that to fill in a bunch of missing information. I’d say somewhere close to one-half of the games on the missing games list from the 1950s are (or at least were) games involving small southeast corner schools.

I also chipped away at the Byes Project and found a few new games that way, as well.

Anyway, here’s the list of stuff that’s updated:

Took the following games off the missing games list:

Found the location for three Sunrise games in 1962: the Sept. 14 game with Guernsey (Guernsey); the Sept. 21 game with Chadron, Neb., Assumption (Sunrise); and the Oct. 3 game with Huntley (Huntley)

Found the date for the Sept. 7, 1962, game between Hanna and Lingle

Found the location for the Sept. 2, 1960, game between Newcastle and Belle Fourche, S.D. (it was in Belle Fourche)

Found scores for two Guernsey losses in 1959: 42-0 to Glenrock on Sept. 11, 1959 and 24-13 to Huntley on Sept. 25

Found the location for the Sept. 11, 1959, game between Pine Bluffs and Galeton, Colo. (it was in Pine Bluffs)

Found the score for Sunrise’s 20-0 victory over Huntley on Oct. 30, 1959

Removed a game between Chugwater and Guernsey on Oct. 17, 1958; Chugwater didn’t have a team that season

Found the score and corrected the date for Guernsey’s 33-0 victory over Lyman, Neb., on Oct. 22, 1958 (originally had Oct. 24)

Found the location for two Sunrise games in 1957: the Sept. 20 game with Lyman, Neb. (Lyman) and the Oct. 11 game with Chugwater (Chugwater)

Found the date and corrected the location for Guernsey’s game with Chugwater on Oct. 18, 1957 (it was in Guernsey, not Chugwater)

Found out the Nov. 1, 1957, game between Sunrise and Pine Bluffs was canceled

Removed a scheduled game for Sept. 14, 1956, between Guernsey and Albin that was not played (Albin didn’t field a team that year)

Found scores for three Glendo games in 1956: a 47-7 loss to Lingle on Sept. 21, a 26-14 victory over Guernsey on Oct. 10 (had originally listed it on Oct. 12), and a 21-7 victory over Huntley on Oct. 19

Found the score for Sunrise’s 38-6 victory over Chugwater on Oct. 9, 1956

Removed scheduled games between Moorcroft and Hulett on Oct. 5, 1956, and Moorcroft and Sundance on Oct. 9, 1956 (Moorcroft did not field a team that season)

Found the score for Glenrock’s 20-0 victory over Pine Bluffs on Oct. 26, 1956, and deleted an extra entry for the game on Oct. 19, 1956

Rectified the end of Guernsey’s 1956 season: Noted that Guernsey won its Nov. 2 game over Huntley by forfeit; noted that Guernsey lost its Nov. 9 game to Lyman, Neb., by forfeit, and removed an extra entry for a game against Huntley on Nov. 14

Added a pair of losses for Upton in 1955: A 26-0 loss to Spearfish, S.D., on Sept. 9 and another 26-0 loss, this one to Edgemont, S.D., on Sept. 23

Found a score for Glendo’s 18-6 victory over Guernsey on Oct. 14, 1955

Found a score for Sunrise’s 13-7 overtime victory over Huntley on Oct. 28, 1955

Found a score for Upton’s 12-0 loss to Edgemont, S.D., on Sept. 11, 1953

Added the following games:

Two for Pine Bluffs in 1959: a 32-12 victory over Sidney, Neb., St. Patrick’s on Sept. 18 and a 20-18 victory over Glendo on Sept. 25

Two for Pine Bluffs in 1958: a 34-12 loss to Sidney, Neb., St. Patrick’s on Oct. 24 and a 12-6 loss to Sterling, Colo., St. Anthony’s on Sept. 19

Lovell’s 14-6 loss to Hardin, Mont., on Sept. 9, 1960

Hanna’s 35-19 victory over Guernsey on Oct. 20, 1962

Pavillion’s 27-0 loss to the Lander JV on Sept. 17, 1963

Two for Pinedale in 1967: a 55-7 victory over the Jackson JV on Oct. 21 and a 25-14 loss to Pavillion on Oct. 27

Burlington’s 28-6 victory over Morton on Oct. 26, 1962

Sunrise’s 21-0 victory over Pine Bluffs on Sept. 21, 1956

Glenrock’s 39-6 victory over the Natrona JV in late October 1956 (also added it to the missing games list for the missing date and location)

The snowed-out game between Tongue River and Sundance on Oct. 25, 1957

Other corrections:

Corrected the date for the Oct. 14, 1966, game between Glendo and Guernsey-Sunrise (had originally listed Oct. 18)

Noted Glendo’s forfeit victory over Guernsey on Nov. 1, 1957 (originally had it as just canceled, but the Longhorns actually had to forfeit this one in the conference standings)

—————————————–

More updates soon, including big changes and updates for the Coaches Project.

–patrick

I came across some old copies of the Deaver Sentinel newspaper last week in the library, and in doing so I was able to add a lot of information about Deaver-Frannie’s seasons in 1947 and 1948. The following games were added:

A 62-24 loss to Meeteetse on Sept. 26, 1947

A 26-18 loss to Cowley on Oct. 8, 1947

A 39-0 loss to Byron on Oct. 31, 1947

A 49-7 loss to Byron on Oct. 3, 1948

I also found the date (Oct. 17, 1947) for the game between Meeteetse and Deaver-Frannie, the location for the Oct. 24, 1947, game between Deaver-Frannie and Byron (it was in Byron) and the location for the Sept. 17, 1948, game between Deaver-Frannie and Cowley (it was in Cowley).

I also corrected the score for Deaver-Frannie’s 38-0 victory over Meeteetse on Sept. 24, 1948; I had originally listed 28-0.

I also added canceled games scheduled between Deaver-Frannie and Cowley on Nov. 7, 1947, and between Deaver-Frannie and Burlington on Nov. 11, 1948.

Also, courtesy of the Deaver paper, I added Meeteetse’s 6-0 victory over Cowley on Oct. 3, 1947.

The new findings also caused some changes to the streaks page. Meeteetse’s 22-game losing streak in this time frame was chopped down to 19, and therefore taken off the page. Byron’s winning streak from 1946-50 also grew by two games, now reaching 24 according to my current research.

The Byes Project also produced one more game: Hulett’s 26-0 victory over Buffalo, S.D., on Sept. 9, 1960.

All those corrections have been made on all the relevant pages.

Speaking of the Byes Project, it’s going fairly well. After starting with close to 800 dates to check from 1960-forward, I’m down to about 180ish. There are some seasons on which I am struggling, though, where I’ve exhausted my available resources. I’d appreciate some help finding more information on the following seasons:

Big Horn’s 1965 season

Burlington’s 1962 season

Douglas’ 1965 season

Dubois’ 1968 season

Goshen Hole’s 1966 season

Guernsey’s 1962 season

Guernsey-Sunrise’s 1963 season

Hanna’s 1965 season

Hulett’s 1964, 1965 and 1981 seasons

Lyman’s 1965 season

Meeteetse’s 1965 and 1995 seasons

Mountain View’s 1962 and 1965 seasons

Ten Sleep’s 1962 and 1963 seasons

Tongue River’s 1961 and 1963 seasons

If you think you might be able to help me out with those seasons, let me know and I’ll let you know what I’m looking for specifically. My e-mail address is pschmiedt@yahoo.com. Thanks!

–patrick

As you can tell by the title, I’ve added and/or corrected several games to the database, thanks to continued work on the Byes Project and the missing games list. In all, 20 games were either added or corrected….

New additions:

Added Lyman’s 27-6 loss to Park City, Utah in 1968 (but also added it to the missing games list because of the unknown date (Sept. 5 or 6) and the unknown location)

Added Newcastle’s 13-12 loss to the Rapid City, S.D., JV on Oct. 21, 1966

Added Guernsey-Sunrise’s 13-6 victory over the Torrington JV on Sept. 4, 1965 (but also added it to the missing games list because of the unknown location)

Added Huntley’s 26-20 victory over the Natrona JV on Oct. 16, 1965

Added Saratoga’s 33-14 loss to the Laramie JV on Sept. 28, 1963

Added Ten Sleep’s 38-0 victory over Manderson on Oct. 10, 1961

Correction:

I corrected Cokeville’s opponent on Oct. 24, 1969 — it was Montpelier, Idaho, NOT Nampa, Idaho.

Missing games:

I made significant progress for Pine Bluffs’ 1962 season. I found scores for two games — Pine Bluffs beat Sterling St. Anthony’s (CO) 39-25 on Oct. 6 and Sunrise 19-12 on Oct. 26 — and found the location for the Sept. 14 game against Lingle (in Pine Bluffs).

Found the date for the Oct. 3, 2000, game between Normative Services and the Buffalo JV

Found the location for the Sept. 12, 1980, game between Burns and St. Mary’s (in Burns)

Found both the date and location for the Sept. 1, 1978, game between Star Valley and Logan, Utah (in Logan)

Found the date and corrected the location for the Oct. 1, 1976, game between Moorcroft and Edgemont, S.D. (it was in Moorcroft — the Wolves’ homecoming, in fact)

Found the score and corrected the date for the Oct. 17, 1968 game between Upton and the Rapid City sophomores; Upton won 6-0

Found a score for the Oct. 21, 1966, game between Pine Bluffs and Lyman, Neb.; Lyman, Neb., won 36-13

Found out that Huntley won its Sept. 15, 1965, game with the Gering, Neb., JV (but it remains on the missing games list because I didn’t find a final score)

Found out four games — an Oct. 27, 1969, game between Cokeville and Big Piney, a Sept. 2, 1966, game between Lyman and South Rich, Utah, a Oct. 14, 1966, game between Saratoga and Lingle, and a Oct. 11, 1963, game between Ten Sleep and Arvada-Clearmont — were canceled

Misc/future:

Thanks to coach Tim Gonzales in Mountain View, I now have a complete list of the Buffalos’ head coaches from the start of the program to the present. Thanks a ton, coach!

As for forthcoming updates, well, they’re forthcoming. The 2009 season will be up on the site soon, and will be accompanied by the 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1950 seasons… that’s why this update is taking a little bit longer than usual.

As always, if you see any incorrect, missing or misplaced information on this site, let me know at pschmiedt@yahoo.com.

Four more games have been added to the database thanks to further progress with the Byes Project:

Newcastle’s 27-6 victory over Upton on Aug. 28, 1981 (thanks to Tracy Ragland in Newcastle for letting me know this one was missing!)

Saratoga’s 26-21 victory over the Kelly Walsh JV on Oct. 11, 1980

St. Mary’s 31-13 loss to Windsor, Colo., on Oct. 19, 1960

Lyman’s 8-0 loss to Park City, Utah, on Sept. 4, 1970

Two other games were added where I know the date, location and winner of the game, I just don’t have a final score: The Laramie JV’s victory over Guernsey-Sunrise on Sept. 17, 1982, in Guernsey, and the Cody JV’s victory over Burlington on Sept. 7, 1984, in Cody. Those two games have been added to the missing games list.

All of those games have been updated and all the relevant pages have been updated.

I also pinned down two locations for games on the missing games list: Guernsey-Sunrise’s 8-7 victory over Pine Bluffs on Sept. 4, 1981, was in Pine Bluffs, while Sundance’s 6-0 victory over Douglas on Sept. 4, 1970, was in Sundance. Those games are off the list now.
