Just a short note to let you know that I’ve updated the state champions listing to reflect Glenrock’s 1960 championship. I have no explanation for why Glenrock wasn’t listed in the table, but here’s my excuse:

For those of you that have followed this site for a long time (and, hey, let’s be honest, that group includes one person — me), I had the state champions listed  on my old Geocities site back in 1999. I posted the list after the list ran in the Casper Star-Tribune, sometime either before or after the title games.

Using my self-taught HTML skills, I posted the list on my personal Web site (hence the sort of weird filename that has carried over ever since, wyofootball.html). I’m guessing the original list I used didn’t have Glenrock’s 1960 title listed on it. And my guess is that the list the Star-Tribune used to create ITS list sometime before 1999 was flawed, too.

But, as part of a larger project I’m working on (watch for it this fall), I caught the omission. The table has since been updated.

Oddly enough, Glenrock’s 1960 title was the last sub-11-man title won in Wyoming until Hanna won the first 9-man title in 1989.

Anyway, I got sidetracked tonight by this, and I don’t know if anyone else cares, but I thought it was interesting….

This was a list I put together a couple years ago and had to pull off some creative computer magic to save — the Wyoming sports radio station guide. It’s a listing of all the stations that broadcast Wyoming high school sports.

I know the list is not complete, so if you can add to it, comment on this post or e-mail me at pschmiedt@yahoo.com.

The list is also permalinked above in the gray menu bar near the top of the page, and it will be on that page that I post any updates or changes. Click here to see what I’m talking about.

I’ve added the bulk of the all-state teams from 1960-64. The only one I’m missing is the Class B-C all-state team from 1963. Otherwise, that time frame looks to be fairly complete. Check it out.

I also added coaches for Burlington, Jackson, Meeteetse and Douglas for 1998. Look at those individual team pages to see those updates.
