Thanks to Jim Craig’s continued help in the archives, I was able to make these updates:

Added St. Mary’s 42-0 victory against Burns in Burns on Sept. 17, 1943.

Noted that Sundance’s 15-0 victory against Wright on Sept. 13, 1991, was later forfeited to Wright. This forfeit explains why Upton, Sundance and Wright had to have a triangular playoff at the end of the 1991 season. This also changed Wright’s longest losing streak.

Added Reliance’s 7-6 victory against the Green River JV on Oct. 26, 1938, in Green River.

Added Sunrise’s 32-26 victory against Manville on Oct. 14, 1949, in Lance Creek. This game result was originally listed for a game played on Oct. 5. An Oct. 5 game was also played, and Sunrise won that game, but a score for that game has yet to be pinned down (added to the missing games list due to that).

Added the location and date for Wind River’s 33-19 victory against Burlington on Oct. 23, 1990, in Burlington.

Added the location of Mountain View’s 19-12 loss to the Jackson JV on Sept. 11, 1981 — it was in Jackson.

Added the location of Meeteetse’s 36-6 loss to the Cody JV on Oct. 8, 1995; it was in Meeteetse.

Added numerous updates to the track and field champions listings. Times/marks and first and last names have been nailed down for every champion except for one… and we’re working on finding that one as we speak!

I also updated the 1990 2A all-state team to put Bill Holthues on the right team. He played for Thermopolis, not Big Piney. Thanks to Heath Hayes for catching that!

I also fixed Rawlins’ all-time playoff record: It’s 4-10, not 3-10.

All the updates have been made on all the relevant pages.

Thanks to Jim Craig and his continuing help with research, I’ve been able to make some more updates:

Added Byron’s 39-12 victory against Cowley on Oct. 22, 1948. (Added to the missing games list because a location could not be found.) This victory extended Byron’s verified win streak to 28 games for this era, tied for fourth-longest in state history; unofficially, Byron’s win streak is 41 games for this time, which at the time was a national six-man record and would be a state record for all schools.

Updated the 1949 all-state second team with three missing first names: Green River’s Dale Terwilliger and Worland’s Gene Schneider and Jerry Brown.

–patrick

One small project I’ve tackled is getting first names for all first- and second-team all-state selections since 1946. This week, I added some first names to the 1951 AA second-team all-state lists: Cheyenne’s Ken Furman, Laramie’s Eldon Smith and Sheridan’s John Rawlings. Only one first name is missing from that team now, that of Cox from Rawlins. However, no one with that last name is listed for that year in the Rawlins yearbook. Help?

I also added eight first names to the 1949 all-state second team: Cheyenne’s Lyle Van Horne and Dick Mabie; Natrona’s Robert McConahay and Darrell Hougham; Newcastle’s Pete Thompson; Rock Springs’ Tom Lambert; and Sheridan’s Jim Askew and Gary Kaiser. However, I’m still missing first names for Green River’s Terwilliger (it could be either Dale or Eddie…) and Worland’s Schneider and Brown. Help again?

Thanks again to the help of Jim Craig, I made several other fixes/additions to the site:

I added two games to the database: Midwest’s victory against the Natrona JV on Sept. 21, 1962, in Midwest (added to the missing games list because a score has yet to be found) and Midwest’s 22-19 victory against the Natrona JV on Aug. 26, 1978, in Midwest.

I also noted the 1940 game between Douglas and Midwest was canceled.

I also updated the 1937 season page to accurately reflect Buffalo’s 20-0 victory against Gillette on Oct. 7. I had it as a 0-0 tie on the year page but as a 20-0 Buffalo victory on both team pages. That discrepancy is fixed.

Seven players entered Wyoming’s unofficial top 10 single-season records for rushing, passing, receiving or defensive points for their performances in the 2016 season.

Wyoming has a new (unofficial) leader in defensive points for a season. Shoshoni’s J.J. Pingetzer finished the season with 312 defensive points. He is the first recorded player to finish with more than 300 defensive points in a season.

Two 3A passers entered the passing yards top 10, with Riverton’s Brady Fullerton claiming the No. 3 spot with 2,442 passing yards and Douglas’ Ty Larson finishing in the No. 4 spot with 2,395 yards. Sheridan’s Drew Boedecker was just outside the top 10 with 2,128 yards, nine yards short of No. 10.

Two rushers also entered the top 10, with Big Horn’s Colton Williams moving into the No. 7 spot with 1,923 rushing yards and Glenrock’s Garrett Schwindt moving into ninth with 1,872 yards. Gillette’s Austin Clemetson was just outside the top 10 with his 1,847 yards this year — only three yards short of the 10th-place spot.

Two receivers also got into their top 10, with Sheridan’s Coy Steel finishing eighth with 1,033 yards and Douglas’ Eric Jamerman moving into 10th with his 1,004 yards.

See the full top 10s for each category here.

I’ve started to add the 2016 season results to various parts of the site. Please keep in mind that for the next couple weeks, some parts of the site will have 2016 results added to them, while others will not. If you see any discrepancies on the site through the championship games, most likely, this is why.

Thanks for bearing with me as I add the newest chapter to Wyoming’s high school football history!

Big-time site helper Jim Craig helped me with the standings for 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1954, which are now posted.

He also helped me verify one addition: Big Horn’s 27-14 loss to the Sheridan JV on Oct. 31, 1969, in Big Horn.

I also fixed the location for the game between Midwest and Guernsey-Sunrise on Sept. 2, 1983; it was in Midwest, not Guernsey.

I also removed a losing streak from the streaks page. I had Douglas losing 21 games in a row from 1965-68. I don’t know how that happened — Douglas never lost that many in a row.

All of the updates have been reflected on all the relevant pages.

Thanks to Jim Craig’s continuing research, I’ve been able to make the following updates to the site:

Fixed the score of Basin’s 25-6 victory against Shoshoni on Sept. 21, 1956; I had the score transposed, with Shoshoni winning by that score.

Added Cokeville’s 40-26 victory against Mountain View on Sept. 9, 1955. This was actually Mountain View’s first game in program history.

Added Cowley’s 63-30 victory against Belfry, Mont., on either Sept. 9 or 10, 1955 (added to the missing games list because a date and a location couldn’t be verified).

Added Lingle’s 30-24 victory against Sunrise on Oct. 29, 1954.

Added statewide standings for 1955, 1956, 1957 and 1958.

Through my own research, I also found the final score for one more game: Evanston’s 57-0 loss to Montpelier, Idaho, on Oct. 23, 1942. I had already noted that Evanston had lost this game; this update simply provided the final score.

All the changes are reflected on all the relevant pages.

Starting today, individual pages on wyoming-football.com will be available for sponsorship. Sponsorships can take the form of a traditional banner ad (at 728 x 90 pixels) — with or without a link — or a colored text box with up to 300 characters (not including links or other basic html formatting) in addition to a 50-character max bold headline (not including links or other formatting).

Rates

Sponsorship rates will be $20 per year per page — just $1.67 per month! Page sponsorships will be renewable on an annual basis. Payments will be accepted by PayPal or by snail-mail check or money order.

If you sponsor five pages (a $100 contribution), you’ll get a sixth page FREE! Consider sponsoring all the team pages in your area for maximum regional reach, or consider sponsoring several popular pages to maximize the number of potential viewers.

When a page is sponsored, the other advertisements on the page will be removed for the duration of the sponsorship.

Available pages

Page availability is first-come, first-served. Most pages on the site are available for sponsorship; check the specific page you’d like to sponsor to see if it’s available.

The current sponsor has the first choice of renewing that page’s sponsorship for the upcoming year. If a current sponsor declines to renew a sponsorship for the following year, that page will be available to other sponsors.

Other important points

All sponsorships are subject to approval by the site manager. Offensive, pornographic or insensitive sponsorships will not be accepted. Messages and banners will be screened for appropriateness before being accepted and posted. The site manager reserves the right to refuse sponsorships for any reason. The decision of the site manager is final.

Once sponsorships are approved and payment is processed, sponsorships are non-refundable. Sponsorships are transferrable only under exceptional circumstances; contact the site manager for details.

Sponsorship may include advertising. However, sponsorship messages and banners, once set, cannot be changed except under exceptional circumstances; for example, don’t expect to rotate in a new banner ad every week or month. Banner images, if desired, will be hosted by wyoming-football.com and will not be remote-loaded.

Wyoming-football.com will not provide ad design or sponsorship message writing services.

Sponsorships may not spoof or belittle players or teams. For example, I will not allow a sponsorship message of “Midwest stinks!” to be put on the Midwest team page (or any other page, for that matter). Sponsorships listed must have a clear source (your name or your company, for example) and should not be attributed to others. For example, I will not allow a message to be sponsored by “Craig Bohl” unless you are actually Craig Bohl.

Sponsorships do not have to include links. You can sponsor your favorite team’s page and give it an inspirational message without linking to anything if you so choose.

Thanks to Jim Craig, who’s been indispensible with his help for the site, I’ve been able to make these additions/corrections:

Updated the Lovell-Cody game in 1957, which Cody won 41-6 on Nov. 5. I had the game, originally scheduled for Oct. 12, listed as canceled. However, it wasn’t canceled, it was postponed, and Cody won the rescheduled game.

Added Manderson’s 31-6 victory against Ten Sleep on Nov. 5, 1957. (Added to the missing games list because a location couldn’t be found.)

Added Pine Bluffs’ 33-31 victory against Huntley on Nov. 7, 1958, in Huntley.

Added North Big Horn’s 26-24 victory against the Lovell JV on Oct. 12, 1979. (Added to the missing games list because a location couldn’t be found.)

Added Big Horn’s 12-6 victory against the Buffalo JV on Sept. 23, 1972, in Big Horn.

Added Big Horn’s 35-6 loss to the Lovell JV on Oct. 27, 1972, in Lovell.

Corrected the location for Big Horn’s game against the Sheridan JV on Sept. 5, 1972; it was in Sheridan, not Big Horn.

Added Cokeville’s all-state selections to the 1995 Class 1A Division II all-state team.

+++

I also updated the stadiums page to reflect the new locations of stadiums in Laramie and Dubois for this season, as well as Laramie’s move to artificial turf. I also added the name “Jim Crawford Field” to Greybull’s stadium, which, apparently, has been the stadium’s name since the early 1970s. Thanks to Jordan Hunter on the wyoming-football Facebook page for pointing out that omission!

Thanks to friend of the site Jim Craig and his sleuthing, I’ve been able to make the following updates to the site:

Added standings for 1964, 1963, 1962, 19611960 and 1959.

Added the score and corrected the date for Mountain View’s 19-0 victory against Cokeville on Sept. 24, 1964.

Added the score for Glendo’s 33-7 victory against Guernsey on Sept. 18, 1959. (Glenn Freeburg in Guernsey was helpful in finding this score. Thanks!)

Fixed the score for Douglas’ 13-6 victory against St. Mary’s on Oct. 3, 1959. (I had St. Mary’s winning by the same score.)

Updated Mark Smith’s name for Kelly Walsh on the 1972 Class AA all-state team; I had noted a “Smith” as an all-state pick but did not have his first name or his school.

Added Woodie Lawson’s name to the 1959 Class AA all-state team for Rawlins; I had noted a Rawlins selection, but the player’s name was illegible on my copy of that all-state team.

Corrected the spelling for Pavillion’s coach for 1959: It was Lee Dobyn, not Dobyns.

All the updates have been made on all the relevant pages.
