A little more exploring of yearbooks on classmates.com led me to some more updates — the bulk of them for Pine Bluffs in the early 1940s.

New entries

Added Wind River’s 33-19 victory over Burlington between Oct. 23 and Oct. 27, 1990 (added to missing games list because site and date couldn’t be identified)

Added Pine Bluffs’ 46-0 victory over Sidney, Neb., on Nov. 11, 1941

Added Pine Bluffs’ 21-13 victory over Burns on Oct. 8, 1943

Added Albin’s 19-13 victory over Pine Bluffs on Oct. 22, 1943

Missing games

Found the score for Pine Bluffs’ 51-19 loss to Kimball, Neb., on Oct. 27, 1944

Found the score for Hanna’s 24-20 victory over Reliance on Oct. 22, 1948

Noted that Albin’s 12-0 victory over Pine Bluffs on Oct. 23, 1942, was played in Albin

I also added three games that showed up on Big Piney’s 1953 schedule; however, no results were available and they’ve been added to the missing games list: Lyman at Big Piney on Oct. 9, Big Piney at Cokeville on Oct. 23, 1953, and Big Piney at Farson on Oct. 30, 1953.

Other notes

Added that Rocky Mountain’s 20-14 victory over Wind River on Oct. 12, 1990, was in overtime

Noted that Midwest’s 12-8 victory over Southeast in the Class B playoffs on Oct. 20, 1979, was in Torrington, not Yoder

Seven games were added to the database. All the changes have been made on all the relevant pages.

All-state teams

Thanks to the help of Star Valley’s Ballard Johnson, I updated six inaccuracies I had on Star Valley’s all-state listings: I corrected Kevin Croft and Kim West’s names on the 1970 all-state team (not Craft, and not Tim); corrected Travis Lenz’ school for the 1971 all-state team (Wheatland, not Star Valley) and corrected Kirk Dana’s name for the 1971 all-state team (not Mike); corrected Layne Turner’s name on the 1972 all-state team (not Lane); and corrected Ballard Johnson’s name on the 1973 all-state team (not Bill). Ballard has been a big help before with some research; thanks again to him for his assistance!

Did you know classmates.com has uploads of a select number of school yearbooks? I didn’t until this weekend. And I went through as many yearbooks on there as I could find to knock out some missing scores. Here’s what got updated:

Found the score for Evanston’s 40-12 loss to Montpelier, Idaho, on Oct. 28, 1949

Noted that three games: Cody at Billings (Mont.) JV on Oct. 16, 1953, Buffalo at Sheridan JV on Oct. 21, 1949, and Newcastle at Edgemont, S.D., on Oct. 29, 1954, were canceled.

Also noted that Cody’s coach in 1953 was Bill Waller, not Cotton Cosgrove.

All the updates have been made on all the relevant pages.

Game updates: I added Sunrise’s 18-6 loss to Manville on Oct. 7, 1948, to Sunrise’s team page. It was listed for Manville and in the 1948 year listings, but it wasn’t listed with Sunrise’s listings. I had a typo (“Sunrisde”) that made it easy to skip over…. All the updates have been made on all the relevant pages.

All-state: Added Newcastle’s Rob Bainer to the all-state listings in Class A for 1981. Thanks to Tracy Ragland in Newcastle for catching the omission!

Basketball: Fixed the score for the 1984 Class 1A girls consolation championship: Manderson beat Encampment 47-34. I had it transposed, with Encampment winning. Thanks to former Manderson coach John Tate for the help! … Also, the 2014 state tournament results have been added to the basketball records.

I’ve made the following updates to the site:

Added three games to Shoshoni’s 1929 season, the first in school history: a 18-0 loss to the Riverton JV on Oct. 26; a 0-0 tie with Thermopolis JH on Nov. 1; and a 18-0 loss to Riverton JH on Nov. 9. I added all three games to the missing games list because locations could not be found for any of the three games.

In tracking down this info, I also found Shoshoni’s coach for 1929 was James Share. He also coached Shoshoni in 1931; I still don’t know if Share was Shoshoni’s coach in 1930, too, or not. For now, it’s listed as missing on the Coaches Project.

Corrected Cheyenne East’s coach in 1977. It was Art Kissack, not Ron TenBensel. Thanks to Cliff Collins, who played for Kissack in 1977, for the help!

Fixed the location of the St. Mary’s-Lusk game in 1971. It was in Lusk, not Cheyenne, due to problems with the field in Cheyenne. Thanks to Cory Griffith at the Lusk Herald for the help!

All the updates have been reflected on all the relevant pages. As always, if you spot an error on this site, let me know! Post a comment below or email me at pschmiedt@yahoo.com.

In calculating some season records, I’ve uncovered a few more season mis-tallies on my part. The following mistakes (in tallying only, not in any individual game results) have been corrected to individual seasons:

Basin, 1923, 2-4 not 1-5; Byron, 1944, 5-5 not 5-3; Dayton, 1950, 7-1 not 6-2; Glendo, 1956, 2-4 not 3-3; Manville, 1932, 0-6 not 0-5, and 1946, 1-4 not 2-3; Reliance, 1942, 3-1 not 2-2; Sunrise, 1936, 3-3-1 not 2-4-1.

I’ve also fixed the overall record for Cowley (12 total ties, not 11).

The changes are reflected on all relevant pages. As always, if you spot an error, feel free to let me know via email at pschmiedt@yahoo.com, or just leave a comment here.

Thanks to the files available at the Wyoming Newspaper Project, I added four games and fixed five others:

Added two games between Lander and Natrona in 1910: a 0-0 tie on Nov. 13 and Lander’s 6-0 victory on Nov. 24.

Updated the final score of Fort Washakie’s 6-0 victory over Lander on Oct. 8, 1910; I had seen 6-1 but I knew it was a typo in the original source. I found a better source.

Removed Fort Washakie’s 6-0 victory over Lander on Oct. 18, 1910. This came from a reprint about the game that was played on Oct. 8; Lander and Fort Washakie only played twice in 1910, not three times.

Found the score for Laramie’s 20-0 loss to the UW JV on Oct. 23, 1909.

Found the score for Laramie’s 6-3 loss to the UW JV on Oct. 11, 1911.

Found the score and the date for Laramie’s 52-0 victory over University Prep on Sept. 30, 1921.

Added two games for Laramie in 1910: an 11-5 loss to the UW JV on Oct. 29 and a canceled game with the UW JV on Nov. 24.

I also found University Prep’s coach for 1921; it was Orion Neff. Neff coached Laramie in 1922.

Added Star Valley’s 19-19 tie with Paris, Idaho, sometime between Oct. 13 and Oct. 27, 1945 (no date available)

Added Star Valley’s 12-0 victory over Malad, Idaho, sometime between Oct. 17 and Nov. 30, 1949 (no date available)

Thanks, Dahl, for the help!

All of the 2013 updates — minus the updates I can’t make yet, like all-state and Super 25 listings — have been made on the site. All team pages and record pages have been updated. Browse around the site and if you see anything I missed or that I typed in wrong, let me know.

I’m planning some big changes to the site within the next few months. Keep checking back to see the latest.

And, my final picks record for 2013:

Last week: 3-2 (60 percent). This season: 248-54 (82 percent). Nine-year total: 2,100-547 (79 percent).

As the 2013 season comes to a close for several teams, I will begin updating the site with the results of the season. The updates will be reflected on some pages and not on others. I will ask for your patience as I work on updating all the pages on the site the next couple weeks.
