Laramie head football coach Ted Holmstrom has resigned his position leading the Plainsmen.

Holmstrom spent one year with Laramie and went 1-8 in 2012. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Lyman for three years, going a combined 18-12. The Eagles finished as Class 2A runners-up under Holmstrom in 2011.

He previously coached at the high school and college levels in Michigan.

Holmstrom confirmed his resignation with wyoming-football.com via telephone on Wednesday but did not comment further. He did say he would remain at the school as a social studies teacher through the rest of the school year.

He is the second Wyoming head coach to leave his position, joining Cody’s Cris Williams, who resigned in November after 13 seasons with the Broncs.

This is so wrong on many levels. The Principal has to answer why this and why the AD is moved to transportation. This town does not have give us answers and they need to. The secrecy has gotten bad here in Laramie wy. Will they cancel this program also.

  4. The sad thing about this is that Holmstrom is a very good coach and could have done wonderful things for the program had he had the support that was needed from all those who were involved. I wish him the best, and hope that Laramie realizes what a big mistake this is….

It is very very sad that a school that had such a winning tradition and fans supporting their programs has dropped to such a level. For years and years the Laramie football program was one of the most successful and feared in the state. I don’t know what has happened down there and I don’t know why anyone would want to step into that total mess and turmoil. (Where is the new John Sr. and John Jr going to come from to straighten this out?)

  6. This is going to get very interesting. Not sure if Coach Holmstrom has spoken with an attorney or not.
Wonder if this has anything to do with Burman’s son not playing QB?
Wonder if this has something to do with assistant coaches who have somehow hung onto their fb coaching jobs or did the hires of Trieck, Waring, Knapton and Holmstrom have to keep guys on staff?
If they hire someone from outside the program, they have to have turnover and bring in new guys. If they hire from within, look for the same results as the student-athletes obviously are not responding.
Laramie has great kids and athletes and this thing can turn around with the right guy.

  7. he was a bad coach i would no i played undder him i am glad he is gone he scwered us out of a season for those sinors they wan ever get it back

When you make a claim like that, bill, you better do two things: (1) put your real, full name on it; (2) clean up your grammar.

And now you’re just embarrassing yourself.

    *know
    *nothing
    *comma splice
    *hear
    *research

If you can express yourself more clearly — and with your full name — then you are welcome here any time. Until then, I’m going to protect you from yourself.

  11. Bill may have been benched due to bad grades!

  12. Coach Holmstrom was a nice guy and worked hard for football.
I have a feeling that when the word gets out; Laramie will have to hire from within–and then the locals will see who has been damaging that program!
