5 Thoughts on “Casper Star-Tribune Super 25 selections announced

  1. No 6-man selections again. Would’ve thought there would have been at least 1 player picked. I’m just glad the Shrine Bowl requires the coaches to choose 6-man players. I know they come from the smallest of small towns, but they have a right to play the game like anyone else, and they need some love too. Nothing against those that made the list. I’m sure they’re worthy. Still though…

I’ve been in on the Super 25 selection process before and it’s always been about the best 25, regardless of class… and that goes both ways. You don’t exclude someone because they play in a 1A division but you don’t include them as the token small-school pick either. You don’t go into the selection process saying, OK, who’s the six-man selection this year? I think there’s more honor to it when you try to get the best 25 regardless of class rather than the best x number from 4A, x from 3A, x from six-man…. However, I obviously can’t speak to the selection process this year.

And it’s not a right. It’s a privilege. Big difference.

  3. You’re right on the priviledge part…my bad.

  4. I would just say I am a 6-man coach here in Wyoming and I have no idea about how to nominate or even what the criteria is for a Super-25 Member. It would be nice to have that info….Thanks

    Hi coach,

I can’t speak to the selection process now, but I know when I worked at the CST I contacted every coach by e-mail at least twice during the season. Those who did not reply to the e-mail — and even some of those who did — were contacted by phone. Most years I got responses from all but about three or four coaches in the state…. All school sizes, all regions. Again, not sure how it’s done now, but that’s how I did it back in the day. Hope that helps.
